Centered on modern foods, the “contemporary” Paleolithic diet consists chiefly of foods that can be gathered or hunted like meat, fish, eggs, seeds, herbs, spices, vegetables, fruit, roots, & nuts; & excludes grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, & processed oils.

Why is the Paleo Diet the Best?

Paleolithic nutrition is based on the premise that modern humans are genetically adapted to the diet of their Paleolithic ancestors & that human genetics have changed since the dawn of agriculture, & therefore that an ideal diet for human health & well-being is one that resembles this ancestral diet. Proponents of this diet argue that modern human populations subsisting on traditional diets similar to those of Paleolithic hunter-gatherers are largely free of diseases like obesity, diabetes, cancer, hypertension or heart disease.
